Threads of Winter
Jan 10, 2026 | The Brownstone
A night of layered luxury—with a sustainable twist. The Aquativity Project is holding its biggest, boldest event yet: Threads of Winter- A Fairytale Ball & Sustainable Runway Showcase.

Who We Are
Did you know a single cotton T-shirt takes 2,700 litres of water to produce—enough for one person to drink for two and a half years?

From cleaning raw cotton to spinning threads, vast amounts of water, energy, and labor go into a garment we may wear only a handful of times… before it’s forgotten at the back of a closet, donated, or left to sit in a landfill.

But as the saying goes—one person’s trash is another’s treasure.
The Aquativity Project (TAP)
The Aquativity Project (TAP) is a South Asian fashion initiative founded by Nidhi Kotikalapudi, that transforms waste fabric into intentional, culturally rooted design. Through upcycling and creative storytelling, TAP challenges fast fashion and redefines what sustainable style can look like.

Core Values

Sustainability
Building Opportunities
Fashion should create beauty without harm. Every TAP design is upcycled from waste fabric, reducing environmental impact and advocating for conscious creation.
TAP is built on the passion of its volunteers. Our work centres on empowering young professionals and local artisans by giving them space to lead, create, and grow.

Blending South Asian Culture
We honour South Asian heritage while embracing contemporary design. Cultural aesthetics and storytelling guide every collection, bridging tradition and innovation.
The Impact
In just two years, TAP has reached over 1,000 attendees, brought together 50+ emerging young creatives, and showcased work on stages ranging from our own fashion show to Calgary Fashion Week.

Every event, partnership, and runway moment strengthens our mission to make fashion more intentional, more inclusive, and more sustainable.

Community-Led, Purpose-Driven

TAP is powered entirely by a dedicated team of youth volunteers—designers, tailors, models, photographers, and artists who give their time and talent to push the future of slow fashion forward. Their commitment fuels every garment created, every show produced, and every impact made.
