The Elemental Collection | Look 3/10: Fire (Pair 2/5)

When fire is unleashed into the open air, it erupts in powerful flames. It reflects what happens when self-control is lost, in excessive consumption, in greed, in the pursuit of personal pleasure without regard for consequences. Inspired by the chaos of molten lava after an eruption, this silhouette radiates the boldness and beauty of fire.

The Breakdown:

The long, flowing train adds drama and movement, while the golden border on the overcoat is repurposed from a red-gold sari.

The entire ensemble is lined with rich red cotton bedsheet material, and both the cropped double-breasted vest and flared dress pants are crafted from a thicker upcycled bedsheet for added structure and depth.

This fiery vision sets the stage for its reflection, the counterpart that channels the same energy in a new form.

Presenting Threads of Winter...

This is a milestone for TAP. Our first collaborative commercial, our first featured menswear collection, our first time running an internship program and a sold-out show. This project was all about the elements, meshing coal, fire, water, and ice to take upcycling to a new level. Over the next little while, enjoy as we present the collection and BTS in detail.

We are extremely grateful for the funding provided by the ACSEL program @youthvolab ) and the Ocean Action Microgrant (@oceanwiseyouth). We are also grateful for their involvement and mentorship with the project through the Experience Ventures Program (@hunterhubyyc).

3 months of prep. Last minute sewing backstage. Lots of tear and giggles. Endless rejections and a lot of praying that it will all fall into place. Threads of winter is officially over. As a team we had to adapt to the many roadblocks that came our way. But also in that uncertainty, our growth skyrocketed. It’s only been 2 years since Trash2Treasure and we grew from a team of 20 to 50. Threads of winter was a sold out show with a long line at 5:30pm. 💡 Volunteer Alberta (ACSEL Program) provides microgrants and leadership development to help youth design and scale community-focused initiatives — TAP received support through the 2025 ACSEL program for Threads of Winter.
🌊 Ocean Wise supports youth environmental projects, offering programs like Eco-Action Accelerator and Ocean Action Microgrants to help young leaders scale impact and foster civic engagement.
